G.4.2 – Terracotta Cladding Detachment

This article has been authored by one of our façade engineers following a non-intrusive investigation of some of the loose/detaching terracotta cladding tiles, together with a review of the available Operation & Maintenance (O&M) documentation. This article consists of our engineer’s comments on the construction details, probable cause(s) of terracotta tiles becoming loose, potential safety risks and recommendations on what measures might be taken to perform the required remedial works.
